Music

This is some of the music I find meaningful and/or love listening to right now!

Solveig’s Song (Grieg) has been my favorite piece of music since I first found it in my piano book back in middle school.  I think it has one of the most beautiful melodies ever.

Nellie McKay, particularly:  Ding Dong, Won’t U Please B Nice, I Wanna Get Married, Suitcase Song, Mother of Pearl, Caribbean Time, Beneath the Underdog

Pretty much anything by Audra McDonald.

Mika!  Grace Kelly is currently my personal favorite, but all of his music is really fun.

I’m a HUGE fan of Sutton Foster, and I also adore her acting.  Check out the time she was on Sesame Street!  (Oh, and pause that vid at :50 to take a look at the hilarious product names on display behind her.)

ABBA!  Who doesn’t love ABBA?!

I went to college with amazing songwriter Sarah Sample.  I really like Born to Fly and Send This Fear (which is in this list).

For humor, I usually go with Ray Stevens.  The Streak, The Pirate Song, Teenage Mutant Kung Fu Chickens, Mississippi Squirrel…

This and this for my mellow moments.  Oh, and this.

A friend of mine recently introduced me to The Hush Sound.  They have quite an original sound & have lots of good songs.  The same friend also introduced me to Lenka.  Here are a few of hers that I like:  Trouble is a Friend, The Show, and Don’t Let Me Fall.

Natasha Bedingfield has been a favorite artist for a number of years.  Some of her songs I like are Unwritten (of course), Single, Say It Again, Freckles, and Pirate Bones.
